This one isn’t on the DRMetrix report (yet), but according to The Independent it’s already going viral. That’s no doubt thanks to a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! where guest host RuPaul promised to buy one for every person who worked on the show.
As Gizmodo explains, this fun gadget is “exactly what it sounds like. They took those novelty singing fish that were so popular 25 years ago and made it look like Trump. Tacky hair and all.”
The reference is to Gemmy’s Big Mouth Billy Bass, which made it onto an episode of The Sopranos (see below). As with all hits back then, there were also competitive versions such as Telebrands’ Boogie Bass (#36 on the 2000 Jordan Whitney) and Tristar’s Louie the Large Mouth Bass (#76 that same year).
This isn’t the first time President Trump has been depicted as an animal. In 2017, Trumpy Bear hit the airwaves and would later go on to become a 2018 True Top 50 hit. In fact, it continues to sell: The third edition is currently #45 on the DRMetrix report.
