As we continue the end-of-year ‘holiday hiatus,’ there still isn’t much to write about. However, I’m committed to checking in at least once a week to tell you whatever there is to tell. This week, I hit all three of my typical topics in a single post.
Chart Watch
We’re at Week 50 with just two more weeks to go in the media year. The DRMetrix chart mostly consists of the usual suspects. The only campaign that caught my eye is Alien Tape, which just popped back into the top 10 at No. 6 and appears to be running the interesting “season of giving” creative below.
Testing Now
The only test to come across my desk recently was from Spectrum, the firm who acquired Tristar’s brands. One of those brands was Emeril Everyday. In this creative, Lagasse pitches his multi-use stick blender.
Promising Products
Kailo Pain Patch (Indiegogo)
This was the most interesting product our scouts sent this week. The video even starts off like one of our commercials with what we affectionately call “mall testimonials.”
The project raised $1.9 million, so these guys obviously know what they’re doing. However, a big challenge from a DRTV perspective would be validating their claims. Anyone foolish enough to go on national TV claiming to have “a bio-antenna that interacts with electrical signals in your body” would just be looking for trouble.
For a limited time, you can take advantage of my holiday special and get full access to The SciMark Report for half off the regular price. But hurry: Offer ends January 1.
Bio Antenna? Really? Just begging for an FDA beat-down.
